PRESS RELEASE
Leadership from the City of Pearland and the Pearland Economic Development Corporation (PEDC) are pleased to announce that International Metalworking Companies (IMC Group) has chosen a site in Pearland’s Lower Kirby District for Tool-Flo Manufacturing, Inc. (Tool-Flo) new headquarters, training and manufacturing facility.
The IMC Group, a Berkshire Hathaway owned company, is one of the world’s largest companies for metalworking products and metal removal technology, supplying a dynamic comprehensive line of precision carbide metalworking tools. IMC also provides engineering and manufacturing solutions to major industries throughout the world.
The IMC Group recently acquired Tool-Flo Manufacturing, a manufacturer of tools and products for the oil/gas, automotive, aerospace and medical industries. Tool-Flo is currently located in Houston and will move its operations to the new facility.
“I and all of our employees are excited at the opportunity to establish our company’s new headquarters in the City of Pearland,” stated Tool-Flo Manufacturing President, Dennis Flolo. “We appreciate the City of Pearland’s interest in Tool-Flo, the PEDC’s involvement and professionalism in support of our business relocation efforts, and everyone making us feel welcome. We are encouraged by recognizing that the City of Pearland provides us THE BEST BUSINESS OPPORTUNITY.”
The PEDC and city officials began working with IMC Group in early 2015 on the project. The 80,000 square-foot facility will include office, manufacturing and training space. The facility will be located on a 15-acre site on the southeast corner of Kirby Drive and N. Spectrum Boulevard and will be home to approximately 188 employees, including management, engineering, sales, operations and administrative personnel.
“The City of Pearland is excited to welcome a Berkshire Hathaway company, such as Tool-Flo, to the growing list of employers who have chosen to call Pearland’s Lower Kirby District home, said Pearland Mayor Tom Reid. “It has been a long-standing goal of the City to develop this area as Pearland’s most intensive mixed-use district and IMC/Tool-Flo’s selection of Pearland is a testament to our efforts and willingness to work with businesses interested in investing in our city.”
The Lower Kirby Urban District consists of 1,200 acres located on the western border of Pearland facing South Beltway 8 and is well positioned to capture a significant portion of office, retail, commercial and industrial projects as the Houston market continues to grow and expand. Existing developments within the Lower Kirby Urban District include Mitsubishi Heavy Industries Compressor Corporation’s manufacturing and service facility, Merit Medical’s R&D and manufacturing facility, Dover Energy’s manufacturing and operations facility, Cardiovascular Systems, Inc.’s medical device manufacturing facility, Pearland Surgery Center and Bass Pro Shop.
Tool-Flo’s facility is being designed by Kajima Building and Design Group (KBD). The IMC Group is still in the process of selecting a contractor for the project. Dan Boyles and Lane Morgan of NAI Houston are representing the buyer in site acquisition.
