Remember back in May, when the Real Estate blog Movoto.com named Pearland as one of the top ten most boring places in Texas? There has been an attempt at proving Movoto wrong by a resident named Craig, who posted this video. Unfortunately, the folks at Movoto were not moved.

However, Pearlanders came out in droves on Oct 11 to the Hilton Garden Inn to support the Adult Reading Center at their annual Red Carpet Gala. This event and its attendees proved, beyond a reasonable doubt, that Pearland is not only FUN, but its residents are passionate about their causes as well!
The mission of the Adult Reading Center,”is to provide free instruction to adults with limited English literacy skills.” They do this by providing a, “nurturing environment that improves reading, writing and basic communication skills in order to help equip parents with the language skills needed to empower their children and all adults with the language skills needed to succeed in the workplace,” according to the ARC website.
About 200 residents, including several members of Pearland City Council, Mayor Tom Reid, City Manager Clay Pearson and State Representative Ed Thompson were in attendance. From the casino tables to the photo booth with props, this was not a boring event!
